Ourselves
Bob
McDonald
has
a
PhD
in
biology
and
loves
to
study,
explore
and
photograph
various
aspects
of
God’s
creation
aka
nature.
He
enjoys
sharing
these
with
others,
whether
through
photography
or
bushwalking.
He
has
been
awarded
third
prize
in
the
2019
Australian
Photographer
of
the
Year
(Wildlife
and
Animal)
and
has
received
several
high
commendations
and
other
awards
in
various
photography
competitions.
He
is
currently
involved
in
volunteer
environmental
monitoring
and
reporting
and
regularly
leads
groups
of
interested
people
on

preferably off-track in wilderness areas.
Evelyn
McDonald
has
recently
retired
after
many
years
teaching
English
to
migrants,
refugees
and
international
students.
Since
childhood,
she
has
been
fascinated
by
the
incredible
colour,
detail,
design,
diversity
and
beauty
of
the
natural
world.
As
a
Christian
‘pilgrim’,
she
has
come
to
increasingly
recognise
these
as
evidence
of
a
good,
creative
and
loving
God
and
delights
to
reflect
on
and
share
this
with others.
Bob
and
Evelyn
have
completed
full-time
studies
at
Sydney
and
Missionary
Bible
College,
have
been
involved
in
Christian
ministry
here
in
Australia
and
overseas
and
currently
live
in
Newcastle
(Muloobinba),

Blog/Podcast
On
a
regular
basis,
our
aim
is
to
share,
write
and
record
about
nature-creation
from
different
perspectives.
Blue Gum Publishing
Blue
Gum
Publishing
evolved
from
writing
our
first
book
together.
Individually
we
have
written
and
had
other
books
published
or
printed,
but
this
has
been
our
first
collaboration.
Being
writer-publishers
enables
us
to
manage
all
the
details
relating
to
the
stages:
writing,
proof-reading,
layout,
printing
in
various
modes
and
marketing.
This
has
more
recently
become
common
practice for many authors.
The
name
Blue
Gum
is
associated
with
environmentally
significant
forests
generally,
and
specifically,
with
one
of
the
most
stately
and
majestic
trees
in
the
eastern
Australian
coastal
forest--the
Sydney
Blue
Gum
(
Eucalyptus
saligna
).
These
striking
sentinel-like
trees
are
an
integral
part
of
the
forest
ecosystem
in
a
nearby
reserve,
and
on
our
regular
walks
there
we
have
the
joy
of
observing
them
in
varying
light
and
in
different
seasons.
Observing
trees
in
their
habitat
beside
life-giving
water
also recalls the words of Jeremiah 17:7-8.
But blessed is the one who trusts in the Lord,
whose confidence is in him.
They will be like a tree planted by the water
that sends out its roots by the stream.
It does not fear when heat comes;
its leaves are always green.
It has no worries in a year of drought
and never fails to bear fruit.
Blue Gum Publishing
To
see
the
natural
world
with
all
its
wondrous
diversity,
order,
interconnectedness
and
beauty
that
God
has
spoken
into
being
and continuously sustains, appreciated and cared for.
